Duck with murrine decoration

Blown Murano glass duck fused with murrine and leaf gold. Characteristic workmanship muranese that, through the use of the murrine. Murrine can be used to achieve composite mosaics that are then picked up with a gather on the blowpipe from the marver and then blown. The mosaic will adhere to the gather and the finished vessel will show a "murrine mosaic". When blowing glassware with murrine decoration, the glassmaker must take into account the inevitable deformation process the murrine are subject to because of the stretching due to the shape to be achieved or the position of the murrine on the object.
